With Love from Sinister!

On the night of October 31 to November 1, a real Halloween will take place in the APXIV space. Real because not on Friday or the weekend, but on the very eve of All Saints' Day, Samhain.

On this night, when the world of the dead comes close to the world of the living, when the sun goes away and the world plunges into darkness for six months, artists will remember ancient traditions and turn to dark forces and rituals. Another heroine of the evening will be the artist Chiara Fumai, whose artistic practices legitimized the discourse of the paranormal as liberating on the international stage. She committed suicide this summer, and Samhain is an excellent occasion to remember her work, which has become clear occult symbols of modern art. This evening, along with the ARXIV art community, will be co-authored by curator Andrei Parshikov, who will open the new season of the Telepathy as an advanced peer-to-peer technology project together with its previous participants Alexandra Sukhareva and Shifra Kazhdan.

About the project "Telepathy as an advanced peer-to-peer technology": From March to May 2017, a series of events took place in the workshop of Ksenia Sverkunova, within the framework of which contemporary artists, philosophers, curators and musicians shed light on a range of issues related to the re-actualization of non-materialistic knowledge in modern culture. The participants in the parasymposium were united by an interest in the field of contemporary art and theory, which gradually penetrates into new areas of knowledge. Logocentric and materialistic ways of interpreting the picture of the world outside the field of this interest. All other forms and methods of cognition have entered or will enter into it. Occult tradition, parapsychology, everyday rituals and everyday magic of the era of late capitalism, witchcraft, post-apocalyptic futurology, paranormal post-Internet practices - participants and guests of the parasymposium will discuss and feel what was deliberately marginalized by modern patriarchal society, what cannot be described in language modern, but already obsolete systems of commodity-money relations, without experiencing a public feeling of awkwardness. The intermediate result of the project will be an artistic digest of progressive alternatives to materialistic knowledge, there will be no final one.
